Privacy Policy

Overview

Presson is designed with privacy at its core. We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the service and do not sell, share, or monetize your personal information. We do not use your data to train AI models.

Data We Collect

When you use Presson, we collect:

• Device identifier: A randomly generated ID stored on your device to identify your account without requiring email or password.
• Display name and username: Optional profile information you choose to provide.
• Goals: Titles, descriptions, and optional "why" statements you create for your goals.
• Check-in data: Your daily effort levels (1-5), optional notes, and optional photos or videos you attach.
• Friend connections: Information about friend relationships within the app.
• Push notification token: Issued by Apple or Google so we can deliver reminders and friend notifications you enable.
• Subscription status: Whether you have an active Pro subscription, which store (Apple or Google) issued it, and its renewal or expiration date. We do not receive or store your payment details — those stay with Apple or Google.
• Timezone: Used to deliver reminders at the right local time.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to:

• Provide and maintain the Presson service
• Display your check-in history and statistics
• Enable friend features (if you choose to use them)
• Send push notifications (if you enable them)
• Enforce feature limits for the free tier and unlock Pro features
• Generate personalized reminders from your own goal data (Pro feature)
• Understand product usage in aggregate to improve the app

Data Storage

Your data is stored on secure servers we operate in the European Union. Check-in notes are private and never shared with friends. Friends can see only your effort level and any media you choose to attach — never your personal notes.

Cross-Device Sync

On iOS, your device identifier is synced between your Apple devices using iCloud Key-Value Store so that the same account follows you across iPhone and iPad. On Android, you can optionally generate a short code to link a new device; the code expires after one hour.

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of third-party services to operate Presson. Each receives only the minimum data needed to do its job:

• Apple App Store and Google Play: Process payments for Pro subscriptions. We never see your card number.
• RevenueCat: Manages subscription state. Receives your device identifier and the subscription record from the store.
• Anthropic (Claude): Generates personalized reminders from your goal titles and optional "why" statements. Anthropic processes this input ephemerally and does not retain it for training.
• Expo (EAS): Delivers push notifications and over-the-air JavaScript updates. Receives your device push token.
• PostHog: Product analytics. Receives anonymous usage events and a pseudonymous ID. No check-in content, notes, photos, or goal details are ever sent to PostHog.

These providers act as data processors on our behalf and are contractually bound to handle your data only for the purposes described here.

Media You Upload

Photos and videos you attach to check-ins are stored on our servers. Media on a private check-in is visible only to you. Media on a non-private check-in is visible only to friends you have explicitly connected with.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data may only be shared:

• With friends you explicitly connect with (limited to effort levels and media on non-private check-ins)
• With the third-party processors listed above, strictly to operate the service
• If required by law or valid legal process

Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account exists. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile settings in the app. Deletion is permanent and takes effect within 30 days across backups.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data through the app (or export it as CSV or PDF on Pro)
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Control your privacy settings (profile visibility, feed visibility, private check-ins)
• Opt out of notifications
• Request a copy of, correction of, or erasure of your data by emailing privacy@presson.app

Subscriptions

Pro subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google and are governed by their terms. You can cancel at any time in the App Store or Play Store settings. We receive only the subscription status (active, expired, cancelled) and the identifier of the product purchased.

Children's Privacy

Presson is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International Users

Presson is operated from the United Kingdom. By using Presson you consent to your data being processed in the UK and the European Union. We comply with the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For significant changes we will surface a notice in the app.
